A major addition to a farmhouse kitchen provides space for entertaining. Extensive countertops give plenty of room for a buffet, while a custom-height bar provides both a gathering point and space for clean-up, without being removed from guests. Traditional cabinetry maintains the charm of a working farmhouse, utilizing the warm character of color-selected hickory. This cost-savvy homeowner opted to use granite on the island top and a coordinating granite-look laminate on the perimeter.
